Landscaping Our TN Home

Hi everyone. We are finally almost finished landscaping the front of the house. We still need to mulch the inner backside of the mounds but ran out of mulch. We bought 15 yards of mulch. For you that know about that stuff know that's a whole lot of mulch!!! And it seems like a whole lot more when the temperatures are so hot! We are in our 3rd week of temps in the 100's. Most days 104 to 107. This is the hottest summer in 30 years! Needless to say I only worked mornings and evenings those days!

We rented this bob cat to move the dirt around.

We had 3 large dump truck loads of dirt delivered to the back yard.

The landscaping next to the house. We wheelbarrowed the dirt from the back because we didn't want to run the bobcat on the sidewalk. That was backbreaking! The area is a lot larger then it looks in the picture!
For those of you that have been at our house, notice all the new houses in our development!

This is an aerial view from the house next door's upstairs window!! I couldn't afford a plane!!
Notice also that our grass is burning up! Frank has since watered some and it does look a little better!

This top picture is the view I see from the dining room window. I wanted to keep that low so I did a little rock thing! It'll look nice when it is fully grown with all the ground cover.

The butterflies love all the flowers. There are hundreds of them every day.

Frank decided he wanted to plant some tomato plants! This is the city guy way of doing it!!! They do taste really good though. But of course, not like a "Jersey Tomato!"

Happy Birthday Kim

A special Happy Happy Birthday to my daughter-in-law and friend, Kim. I hope you make the best of everything and have a Happy Birthday. Hope the kids make the day special for you! You can do it Jen!! I will post a picture as soon as Frank gets my puter at home going and my scanner hooked back up! He was switching computers around yesterday and I guess he got tired and went to bed before everything was put back together!! Sorry Kim! I Love You!

In Memory Of Nick

This is in memory of our brother-in-law and Frank's Idol. Nick passed away this week. His funeral is today. May you rest in peace!

Don't think of him as gone away--his journey's just begun

life holds so many facets

this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting

from the sorrows and the tears

in a place of warmth and comfort

where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing

that we could know today

how nothing but our sadness

can really pass away.
And think of him as living

in the hearts of those he touched...for nothing loved is ever lost--and he was loved so much.

Landscaping Our Home

This is just a little taste of the landscaping we are doing!! More pictures to come in the next couple of days!! It's 103 here today. I did manage to work outside until 2 today. I'm probably going to regret that. My face seems a little hot and red!! I usually just work til around 10 but got carried away today. I JUST WANT TO GET THIS DONE ALREADY!!!!! Hope you all are having a cooler August then we are!! Frank's brother-in-law died today. They live in CT. He was really close with Nick. They came to visit us when we were building the house. They were our first visitors. Please pray for Frank, his sisters and their families. Nick was a real family man and will be truly missed. Frank is taking it really hard. Enjoy the one picture!!!
